The Gospel Coalition

In this day of fragmented understanding of the Gospel, Evangelical Christianity undoubtedly needs leaders who will promote a sound, “robust, confessional, biblically faithful” (D. A. Carson) understanding of the Gospel. The Gospel Coalition is a group of about forty to fifty Evangelical (and broadly Reformed) pastors and scholars, who are deeply committed to and passionate about the Gospel, and who are also deeply concerned about the state of the church and confronting the culture with the Gospel. It would be well worth your time to check out their website, especially so that you will have access to (and READ!) the confessional documents they have put together.

One Response to “The Gospel Coalition”

  1. Brandon Says:

fragmented…that may be the best word I’ve heard yet to describe the current understanding of the gospel in evangelical churches. I’m going to start using that.

You know, it was not until recently (the last two years) that I began seeing that I had a fragmented understanding of the gospel myself. So I can identify with the state of the church in this. We know bits and pieces of the gospel, but we fail to preach it – and live in it for that matter! – in its fulness most of the time. There is definitely a tendency to emphasize one piece while downplaying the necessity of the others.

I’ll have to listen to Carson’s address and also read the documents you spoke of. Thanks for the reminder!!
